Trombone comes from sacbut

This brasswind instrument is among the oldest instruments and its emergence dates back to the 15th century. Sacbut is considered the instrument from which trombone has come into origin. The name ‘sacbut’ is the combination of the two Middle French words – ‘saquer’ which means ‘to pull’ and ‘bouter’ meaning ‘to push’.

Lefties may find difficult to play it

Yes, there have been a lot of talks about trombone being not friendly to the lefties. A left-handed person may find it challenging to play this instrument, but this is not something that cannot be overcome. Slide Hampton is the greatest example. He is considered the finest jazz trombone player and a Grammy Award winner.
